Grand Prix 4
Back on the grid.

Where it stands.
NOTES REVIEWED · 26 OCTOBER 2026The whole game runs in a new host while its race systems are progressively hand-ported to independent C++. A separate Unreal path preserves the original presentation, alongside an early modern rendering prototype.

Rough editorial estimates from the project notes, typically ±10–15 points. They describe a usable edition, not code coverage or a release date. A dash means no defensible estimate. Recorded checks were reviewed, not rerun for this website.

RECREATION ~70% ESTIMATED
Playable · hand port in progress
Menus, races and championships run across all 17 circuits. The simulation, cameras, track loading and race frame are being separated from the remaining original-code dependencies.
In place
- Whole-game boot, race flow and championship seasons.
- Engine-neutral simulation, cameras and substantial track-loading work.
- Recorded parity across seven regression sessions and 17 track loads.
Still to do
- Finish the independent hand port and remaining presentation systems.
- Network multiplayer and live wheel/controller validation.
- Broader weather, rendering and compatibility checks.
About this estimate
Strong end-to-end playability, but a clean independent remake still depends on unfinished code. The roughly 83% exercised-core byte coverage is a separate metric, not whole-game completion.
PLUS NOT YET ESTIMATED
Scope pending
A separate Plus workstream is not established in the reviewed notes.
In place
No separate implementation documented.
Still to do
- Define this edition’s improvements and acceptance criteria.
About this estimate
No defensible percentage yet; shared foundations do not establish a separate finished edition.
PLUSPLUS ~20% ESTIMATED
Modern rendering prototype
Unreal 5.8 has its first state-driven Silverstone scene with 22 cars. GP4’s mature Original rendering path inside Unreal is a separate preservation branch, estimated around 85%.
In place
- Shared simulation/session plugin and state-only race output.
- First live track, car-body and four-wheel placement.
- Separate Original-in-Unreal branch already boots menus and races.
Still to do
- Modern menus and HUD; complete car parts and wheel motion.
- Game-derived lighting, modern materials, effects and interpolation.
- Turn the first scene into a complete usable modern game.
About this estimate
This estimate covers GP4Modern only. Original renderer parity and a working first frame do not make the modern visual remake nearly complete.
